Public relations is moving faster than ever…. leaving us baffled when strange new terms pop up. Here are a few definitions you need to know.
This section is new, so please bear with me as I find time to add content.
Note each term is a link to more information.
BRAND MENTION – Brand Mentions are instances when a company or brand is mentioned online, usually on social media or in a blog post, website article or other piece of content. Mentions are usually in the context of complaints, reviews, happy customer conversations, and expert opinion articles or educational content.
DIGITAL PR – the integration of content marketing, SEO and social media into traditional public relations to build maximum organic visibility online.
REPUTATION MANAGEMENT – the monitoring and managing of brand reputation – most commonly used to refer to customer reviews and the process of using search engine optimization (SEO) to reduce visibility of negative reviews.
SOCIAL LISTENING – the process of listening to what people say on social media platforms to collect useful, actionable information. Most people think of social listening in connection with brand reputation management and customer service.
VANITY METRIC – often indicates popularity or reach, referring to very simple metrics used to measure success related to ego and awareness, instead of actual business results.
